Our league FAQs

Most of the information and correspondence to be relayed to teams during the season will be done via the website or the notice board in the garage, so please ensure that you check every week. For the full rules, please see the RULES tab under INFO, a summary of most FAQs is below:

Skirts/Dresses

Please remember that under the new rule voted in at the AGM, skirts/dresses must be worn on the court in the summer season and an umpire has the right to remove
any player not doing so from the court, .

Could all players who wear dresses as part of their kit please ensure that it looks like a dress and not a long t-shirt, we are trying to smarten the Summer league.

Cards

All result cards must be completed in full.  Any team who does not fully complete their result card will lose one point for that particular game. This ruling was voted in at the AGM.  For the Summer League, please remember to nominate opposing teams’ Player of the Match.

Match balls

The Tonbridge League allows each team to use their own match ball for half of the match, be that one half or two quarters. If there is doubt as to whether a ball is the proper size and weight, then the umpires’ decision is final.

Cancellation

If a game is cancelled by your opponents, you may request from them the court fees already paid by yourselves. The Treasurer will be able to tell you the amount.

The  Secretary must be notified by both teams. In the Summer season the team that cancels has 3 points deducted with 4 points being awarded to the other team, in the Winter season the team that cancels do not get deducted points, but the other team are awarded 4 points.

Umpires

Please remember, Tonbridge Green Card umpires, (lapsed Beginners) and Beginners can umpire Divisions 3 and 4. C  Award and above can umpire all our divisions. Please see Rule 5 of the Summer Rules. Any queries on this matter please Contact Barbara our Umpiring Secretary.

Safety

All players for the 8.30pm games must wait outside the gate until the 7.15pm games have finished. Players leaving the courts after the 8.30pm games have started must wait to pass the court if play is up this end. All children inside the court area must stay in one place and not run around.

Floodlights

These will be switched on as required, but please note that we have been asked to ensure the lights are off by 9.45pm. For this reason play must finish on the klaxon at 9.40pm.

Queries and complaints

There is a list of Committee Members on the website, therefore if there are problems please contact the relevant person.

Points system

There are 4 points for a win, 2 points for a draw, 1 point if the losing score is within 50% of the winners score and 3 points deducted if you cancel a game.
AGM

The AGM this year will probably be on 6th October at 7.30pm at Weald of Kent School. Further details will follow. Remember, a representative of each TEAM must attend.
